What happened
Lufthansa has a form requiring proof that a passenger intended to fly the original itinerary and that circumstances changed after booking. Qualifying tickets generally start or end in Germany, or require proof of German residence.
Why it matters: The policy distinguishes post-booking changes from intentional throwaway ticketing and may initially expose unsupported cases to fare recalculation.
